Batumi is a city located on the Black Sea coast. The city is the capital of Adjarian autonomous republic in southwest Georgia. Batumi serves as an important port and a commercial center of West Georgia and its population is 180 th. people (2008 census). The city is situated in a subtropical zone, rich in agricultural products, such as: citrus fruits and tea. The industrial potential of the city includes: shipbuilding, food processing and light manufacturing. Most of its economy revolves around tourism. Since 2010, the face of the city has been transformed by the construction of new high-rise landmark buildings and by renovation of the Old Town

The creation of the Georgian alphabet is related with antique period (the 3rd century of Christian era), and the Georgian alphabet is among 14 alphabets of the world. The country has rich literary traditions. The poem of the greatest Georgian poet, Shota Rustaveli “Knight in the Tiger’s Skin” is a part of the world literary treasure and is translated into 44 languages.Georgian folklore and passionate dance is a unique phenomenon. It is acknowledged by UNESCO as “a masterpiece of humanity folklore and not of human hand making treasure”. Georgian multi-voices song “Chakrulo” is one of the world folklore songs, which became the message of the humanity into the space among the other achievements all over the world. Georgia is considered as a homeland of the first Europeans, there was discovered the signs of the ancient European – scull of 1,8 million years old.The traditions of the Georgian feast are known all over the world. Many foreign guests were charmed by our hospitality and free-handed reception.Georgian traditional kitchen is characterized by originality and the variety of dishes: shashlik, khachapuri, khinkali, satsivi, fishes and souses fascinate the guests.Since olden times Georgians have been drinking the pure wine. CLIMATE

Batumi lies at the northern periphery of the humid subtropical zone. The city"s climate is heavily influenced by the onshore flow from the Black Sea and is subject to the orographic effect of the nearby hills and mountains, resulting in significant rainfall throughout most of the year, making Batumi the wettest city in both Georgia and the entire Caucasus Region.

The average annual temperature in Batumi is approximately 14 °C (57 °F). January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 7 °C (45 °F). August is the hottest month, with an average temperature of 22 °C (72 °F). The absolute minimum recorded temperature is −6 °C (21 °F), and the absolute maximum is 40 °C (104 °F). The number of days with daily temperatures above 10 °C (50 °F) is 239. The city receives 1958 hours of sunshine per year.

Batumi"s average annual precipitation is 2,718 mm (107.0 in). September is the wettest month with an average of 335 mm (13.2 in) of precipitation, while May is the driest, averaging 92 mm (3.6 in). Batumi generally does not receive significant amounts of snow (accumulating snowfall of more than 30 cm.), and the number of days with snow cover for the year is 12. The average level of relative humidity ranges from 70–80%.
